NASCAR Xfinity Series Crew Chief Greg Erwin Tops the Owner Point Standings for Team Penske

With five races in the books the teams that are the ones to beat have risen to the top, but they can’t get there without the leadership of a good crew chief. Take a look at the crew chief that has his team leading the Xfinity Series owner point standings:

Greg Erwin replaced Jeremy Bullins this season at the top of the pit box for Team Penske’s No. 22 Ford with drivers Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney. Erwin has worn many hats in the NASCAR world from engineer to competition director, but this season his talents are toward bringing Roger Penske his third consecutive owner title in the Xfinity Series. So far this season the No. 22 team is on the right track, as they lead the owner standings by eight points over JR Motorsport’s No. 88 team. Four-tire call propels Brad Keselowski to surprise victory at Fontana

After Sunday’s Auto Club 400, there may be a warrant issued for Brad Keselowski.
 
After all, the driver of the No. 2 Team Penske Ford committed his own version of “Grand Theft Auto” at Auto Club Speedway—he stole an entire race.
 
Benefitting from a four-tire call on the last lap of regulation and two opportune cautions that extended the event nine laps beyond its scheduled distance, Keselowski passed polesitter Kurt Busch on the final lap (209) and pulled away to win his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the season.

Joey Logano is class of the field in XFINITY win at Phoenix

Joey Logano summed up his dominating victory in one word.

“Finally!” Logano exclaimed after taking the checkered flag in Saturday’s Axalta Faster. Tougher. Brighter. 200 NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Phoenix International Raceway.

Logano had reason to be frustrated. He had finished second in his last four XFINITY Series starts, the last three after winning the pole. And the driver of the No. 22 Team Penske Ford hadn’t been to Victory Lane in the series since Sept. 28, 2013 at Dover International Speedway. Continue reading →
