Family Feud: Nemecheks Strikes Up Friendly Rivalry

A father-son rivalry is brewing in the Camping World Truck Series.

Joe Nemechek and his son John Hunter, who share the No. 8 SWM-NEMCO Motorsports Toyota Tundra SWM, have adopted a “friendly family challenge” this season, comparing finishes and laps led. Surprisingly, the 17-year-old has held his own against his father, who won the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 1992. Continue reading

Watkins Glen International dedicates infield care center in honor of Ernie Thurston 

Watkins Glen International is proud to announce their dedication of their infield care center to area native and long-time safety and emergency services leader, Ernie Thurston. The naming of the Ernie Thurston Medical Center took place this morning at a ribbon cutting ceremony. After spending a lifetime in the service of others, Thurston passed away in November.  Continue reading

International Flavor for NASCAR Home Tracks and ARCA Preview

NASCAR_HOMETRACKS_cropped_700The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will head to Watkins Glen International Friday for the Bully Hills Vineyard 125, led by championship points leader Ben Rhodes. There are a number of road-course ringers in the field, most notably, two-time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series champion Andrew Ranger and two-time NASCAR Whelen Euro Series champion Ander Vilarino. Ranger has 19 Canadian Tire wins with 16 on road courses. He’s also won three times in the K&N Pro Series – all on road courses. Vilarino, joined by 2013 championship runner-up Frederic Gabillon at The Glen, has 16 Whelen Euro wins – 15 on road courses. Also in the field will be NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Sunoco Rookie Austin Dillon. Continue reading

Milka Duno Comes to Nationwide Series as First Hispanic Female

RAB has signed Milka Duno to compete in select races in the 2014 Nationwide Series, making her the first Hispanic female driver in history compete in a NASCAR national series in the United States.

Duno has competed in multiple racing series, earning eight major wins in the highest classes including, (Prototype) in the American Le Mans Series and the Grand American Rolex Series and the highest finish ever by a female driver – 2nd place – in the 24 Hours at Daytona – in the now 52-year history of the race.
