Kyle Larson opens the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs with a Win at Darlington Raceway in the Cookoff Southern 500 on Sunday evening.

The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs kicked off Sunday afternoon with a 500-mile test at Darlington Raceway. This race is the true test of endurance and discipline as it ends under the lights. In the first race of the playoffs, teams can fold under pressure costing them a solid finish. Darlington Raceway is one of NASCAR’s toughest tracks making it a perfect venue to open up the playoff Round of 16.

Kyle Larson is first to advance into the Round of 12 of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs after winning the Cookout Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

DARLINGTON, S.C.—Welcome back, Kyle Larson. 

The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion held off a desperate charge from fellow Playoff driver Tyler Reddick at sold-out Darlington Raceway to claim victory in Sunday night’s Cook Out Southern 500 and earn an automatic berth in the Round of 12.

Chris Buescher gets another NASCAR Cup Series win in a thriller at Daytona International Speedway in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on Saturday.

The NASCAR Cup Series fired its engines one final time during the regular season at Daytona International Speedway. One last chance for someone to clinch their spot in the 2023 playoffs. A spot held by Bubba Wallace but was up for grabs by anyone without a race win this season. A superspeedway wild card race serves as the great equalizer for anyone needing that win.
