The Chase Countdown Challenge Continues for Sprint Cup Drivers

5ToGoWGI-RIR

Five races on five very different tracks give NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers a challenge as they countdown to the Chase.

That’s what faces the Sprint Cup Series and the 2014 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. For 11 drivers, it’s all or nothing time. For those 11 drivers with wins – and a likely Chase spot – a victory means three more bonus points tacked on their total to start the Chase.

But, really, these next five races are all about those with no wins. There are some big names out there battling for their playoff hopes – Kasey Kahne, Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle. If the Chase started today, only Biffle would make it among the three perennial Chasers.

In addition, the Speedway will feature over 60 luxury suites with track side views and a completely revamped hospitality experience for corporate guests. Continue reading

But there’s something different about this year, right? Considered for so long by so many as a champion-in-waiting, Earnhardt looks to assume the aura of a champion-on-deck. Continue reading

With Nextel becoming the sponsor of the Cup Series in 2004, NASCAR introduced a new points system as well.

The top-ten drivers in points after 26 races go on to battle it out for the championship over the last ten races of the season.

MB2 Motorsports drier Joe Nemechek missed the Chase field and was only racing for pride during the last ten races in 2004. The only bright spot in his season was grabbing the pole the week before at Talladega. Along with his own Busch Series team, Nemechek ran double-duty at Kansas. Continue reading
