Brendan Gaughan Set to Enjoy his Favorite Month of Racing

If Brendan Gaughan qualifies for the XFINITY Series playoff, the month of August likely will play a large part in his success.

Three of the next four XFINITY races take place on road courses, broken up only by a short-track event at Bristol. But this weekend’s Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International, followed by trips to Mid-Ohio (Aug. 12) and Road America (Aug. 27 after Bristol) are the events that have Gaughan’s attention. NASCAR XFINITY Series teams are taking to the road course this week for the Zippo 200 at The Glen on Saturday, August 5th at 2 pm ET. Coverage begins at 1:30 pm ET on NBCSN, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

 

Drivers will race 200.9 miles over 82 laps with Stage 1 ending on lap 20, Stage 2 on lap 40, and the last Stage ends on the last lap 82. Continue reading

ARCA Racing Series Releases 2017 Schedule

The 65th consecutive season for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is set in stone, as Series officials released the 2017 schedule Thursday to include 20 race-dates across 13 states.

Another healthy mix of superspeedways, paved short tracks, dirt tracks and a road course will highlight the 2017 tour, including returns trips to Elko Speedway in Minnesota and Road America in Wisconsin. ARCA raced at the Elko short track 2012-2014 and once at the Road America road course in 2013. Continue reading

Kyle Larson Captures Emotional First Victory at Michigan

In the last few laps of Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway, tears began to well up in Kyle Larson’s eyes.

When Larson subsequently took the checkered flag to win the first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of his career, the emotion was all but overwhelming—and for good reason.

The victory came in Larson’s 99th start in the series, long after most observers expected Larson to record his first win. It also broke a 99-race drought for Chip Ganassi Racing, dating to Jamie McMurray’s victory at Talladega in October 2013. Continue reading
