Saturday afternoon at Phoenix, Kyle Busch demonstrated why he has visited victory lane 12 times in the Nationwide Series – Domination. Busch had little competition throughout the afternoon allowing him to abolish the rest of the field en route to victory. DRIVE4COPD and NASCAR Partner to Generate Awareness, Encourage Fans to be Screened

NASCAR announced November 1st that it will lead a joint campaign with Official Partner DRIVE4COPD throughout COPD Awareness Month (November) to drive awareness and encourage fans to be screened for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

COPD, a debilitating lung disease, is the third-leading cause of death in the United States and affects as many as 24 million Americans but about half remain undiagnosed. DRIVE4COPD has been the Official Health Initiative of NASCAR since 2010 and has been responsible for screening more than 2.7 million NASCAR fans. Continue reading

Keselowski Takes Checkers in Texas Nationwide Race

Once again during Saturday afternoon’s Nationwide Series race at Texas, it was the No.22 car in victory lane. One of the most dominating seasons continues for the Penske Racing entry. This victory is the No.22 car’s twelfth on the year and Keselowski’s sixth. The owner’s championship is very much within reach for this team and this race solidified that point.

A Penske parade was up front early when Sam Hornish Jr. took the lead from Alex Bowman on lap five and then Keselowski passed Hornish Jr. one lap later. After the Penske stint up front, Joe Gibbs Racing held the top positions for mostly the mid-part of the race. Continue reading

NASCAR Mandates ImPACT Baseline Concussion Testing

NASCARlogoPre-Season Testing Begins in 2014 

NASCAR announced today that beginning in 2014, the sanctioning body will mandate pre-season neurocognitive baseline testing as part of its comprehensive concussion prevention and management program for all of its national series drivers.

At the start of this season, NASCAR recommended that drivers who did not already have a baseline test secure one, while also indicating that a pre-season baseline mandate could become effective as soon as next year. Continue reading
