NASCAR XFINITY Series teams are ready for action in the One Main Financial 200 at Dover International Speedway this Saturday, June 3 at 1 pm ET. Coverage is available on FOX Sports 1, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio and MRN starting at 12:30 pm ET.

Erik Jones and his crew chief Chris Gabehart are the defending XFINITY Series winners at Dover this weekend. Teams will race 200 miles over 200 laps with Stage 1 ending on lap 60 and Stage 2 ending on lap 120. The last stage will end on the last lap 200.  Continue reading →

Upcoming Kentucky Test Adds New Variables to Lower-Downforce Equation

For more than a third of active NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers, there will be no rest for the weary.

One driver from each Cup organization is eligible to participate in a test of newly repaved Kentucky Speedway on Monday and Tuesday. The test is a continuation of NASCAR’s proving-out process for a new lower-downforce competition package earmarked for 2017.

Last year, as the sanctioning body solidified the rules for 2016, races at Kentucky and Darlington were used as benchmarks for the progression toward lower downforce for the Cup cars. This year, in selected events, NASCAR is taking an additional 500 pounds of downforce and 125 pounds of sideforce away from the cars by chopping the size of the spoiler, reducing the surface area of the splitter, tapering the rear deck lid fin and eliminating rear axle offset. Since Michael Waltrip Racing bowed out of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, there were a lot of employees, not just drivers, looking for a place with other teams. For two drivers, Clint Bowyer and David Ragan, they were able to get rides for 2016 and beyond securing their future.
